Membership Guidelines

We have three membership categories to suit almost any school.

Full Member

A fully qualified member enjoys all the rights and privileges of NCGS membership as defined in the by-laws. With full membership, you can vote at the annual business meeting, can serve on the board, and can receive public relations counsel.

Qualifications:
  • Incorporated as a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization by the IRS or exist as a public/charter school
  • Have non-discriminatory admission and employment practices and publish those policies
  • Enroll only girls in a school division
  • Have a documented girl-focused mission
  • Make financial aid available
  • Located in the U.S. or its territories
  • Governed by an independent, self-perpetuating board
  • Accredited by a regional or state organization
Dues:

Full members are assessed dues as determined by the board. Dues for the 2016–2017 membership year (starting July 1, 2016) are as follows:

  • Independent Schools: $14.95 per student enrolled, with a maximum payment of $7,950 and no minimum
  • Semester Schools: $14.95 per student based on average enrollment
  • Public / Charter Schools: $425.00
  • Tuition-free Independent Schools: $425.00
International Member

As a qualified international member school, you’ll enjoy all the privileges of full membership with the exception of the opportunity to vote at the annual business meeting. International member schools receive regular mailings and e-newsletters from NCGS and are listed in NCGS publications and on the NCGS website. You can also participate in the Annual Conference and other Coalition-sponsored events, and receive NCGS publications at the membership rate.

Qualifications:
  • Located outside of the United States
  • Have non-discriminatory admission and employment practices and publish those policies
  • May be an independent or public school
  • Enroll only girls in a school division
  • Support educational programs of substance with a focus on girls
  • Make financial aid available
  • Governed by an independent, self-perpetuating board
  • Accredited by a regional, state, or national organization
Dues for the 2016-2017 membership year (starting July 1, 2016) are as follows:
  • International Independent Schools: $14.95 USD per student enrolled, with a maximum payment of $1,495 USD
  • International Public/Tuition-free Schools: $425 USD
Provisional Member

A qualified provisional member is a newly established girls’ school. Provisional members receive all the privileges of membership with the exception of the opportunity to vote at the annual business meeting and to serve on the board. Your school can remain in this category for up to five years as you work toward full membership requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Enroll only girls in a school division
  • Have a documented girl-focused mission and curriculum
  • Be in the process of obtaining status or be acknowledged as a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization by the IRS
  • Have a statement that reflects non-discrimination in current and future admission and employment practices
  • Submit financial planning documents
  • Indicate the availability of financial aid
  • Be located in the U.S. or its territories
  • Indicate governance by an independent, self-perpetuating board
  • Be in the process of seeking accreditation by a regional or state organization
Dues:

The provisional dues assessment for Independent Schools is:

  • Year 1 — $500
  • Year 2 — $1,000
  • Year 3 — $1,500
  • Year 4 — Full Independent School Member

The provisional dues assessment for Public/Charter/Tuition-free Schools is:

  • Year 1 — 25% of current year dues for public/charter/tuition-free schools
  • Year 2 — 50% of current year dues for public/charter/tuition-free schools
  • Year 3 — 75% of current year dues for public/charter/tuition-free schools
  • Year 4 — Full Public/Charter/Tuition-free School Member

The provisional dues assessment for International Schools is:

  • Year 1 — 25% of current year dues for international schools
  • Year 2 — 50% of current year dues for international schools
  • Year 3 — 75% of current year dues for international schools
  • Year 4 — Full international School Member
